Free WHOIS & Domain Expiry Lookup
Enter a domain to see its registrar, expiry date, days remaining and registry status. No signup — results in seconds.
How to read the result
Days left counts down to the domain's expiry. Registrar is the company the domain is registered with. Status codes are the registry's locks and flags — codes like redemptionPeriod or pendingDelete mean the domain has already lapsed and is on its way to being released.
Why domain expiry matters
An expired domain takes the website and email down instantly, and after a short grace period anyone can register it. Renewals are easy to forget across many domains and registrars. Lapseguard watches expiry across all your domains and warns you well before they lapse.
Questions, answered
- What is RDAP and how is it different from WHOIS?
- RDAP is the modern, structured replacement for WHOIS. It returns the same registration data — registrar, expiry, status — in a reliable JSON format. Some registries don't support it yet, in which case we can't show a result.
- What happens when a domain expires?
- The site and email stop working immediately. There's usually a grace/redemption period to renew at a premium, after which the domain is released for anyone to register.
- How do I get warned before a domain expires?
- Start monitoring the domain in Lapseguard — you'll get email and Slack alerts well before expiry, with thresholds you control.
